Living Room Photo Frame · Last updated 24 July 2026
Living Room Photo Frame (“the app”) is a tvOS app that displays your own photos as a slideshow on your Apple TV. Your privacy is central to how it is built: the app is designed so that your personal content stays on your device.
Your photo library. With your permission, the app reads photos and videos from your Apple Photos library to display them. This access is used only to show your photos on screen. Photo data is not transmitted off the device, and the app does not modify your library.
Place names for captions. If a photo has coordinates saved in it by the camera that took it, the app sends those coordinates to Apple’s reverse-geocoding service to get back a place name (for example “Cambridge, England”) to show in the caption and to mark on the location map. This is handled by Apple’s CoreLocation framework. Only the coordinates already embedded in that photo are sent — the app never requests your Apple TV’s own location, and it has no location permission. Results are cached on the device for the current session so the same place is not looked up repeatedly. If you turn captions off, no coordinates are sent.
Apple Music. If you use the music feature, the app plays music from your Apple Music library through Apple’s MusicKit. Playback is handled by Apple; the app does not receive or store your listening history.
Settings. Your preferences are stored locally on the device using the system’s standard settings storage. They are not transmitted anywhere.
Because the app does not collect or transmit your personal data, there is nothing for it to retain on any server. Photos remain in your Apple Photos library; settings remain on your device and are removed if you delete the app.
The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
The app uses Apple frameworks — Photos, MusicKit, and CoreLocation — which are governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.
